I sent you only postcards from my journey through the C.S.R., because I could not take the time to write a letter, but please do not take it the wrong way; I will now write you more instead.

From Prague I sent you a card, and from Olmouc and from Piešťany, and today I arrived in Bratislava. Now everything depends on the passport. Tomorrow morning I will go make inquiries and I will write to you. It has already been almost a month, and I too am very impatient.

I received a letter from Helenka, and I think it is enough if you write her that I am already very impatient and [likely: cannot answer her / cannot reply to her — wording partly unclear].

I have been thinking of you very, very much, little Lajenka…

About the late Moritz, if you want, I will write/send something to you, and I will also try to obtain a written statement from a rabbi. When I have the passport in my hand, I will do everything possible to come to you as quickly as I can.

I saw the antisemitic incident with my own eyes. On Friday around midday I left for Nitra, and by evening there was even more unrest. Before, I had only read that in the newspaper; now I know it myself. A Jew cannot really remain here, because the people are infected with Hitler’s antisemitism, and that is hard to remove. Now it is quiet here.

On Monday I am traveling to Kaschau (Košice), [apparently over a money matter; wording is rough]. During the trip I will send you only postcards, and then I will travel back to Bratislava. Dearest Lajinka, you write to me about your passport. I do not know what is to be done about it or what I should tell you; do what is necessary, because when I come, you should be in Göteborg yourself.

I think you wrote to me that you are waiting for me at the end of October, and I myself am not certain when; only when I have the passport in my hand will I know exactly when I am coming to you.

Lajinka, as long as I was taking the baths, I was very weakened and had lost weight, and now I have already put weight back on, and my feet do not hurt me at all anymore.

In Bratislava I am bored. Time passes too slowly for me, because I am not occupied, and I am not at my workplace, although they still need me there. But one can get enough work here.

I simply want to wait until the passport comes to me.

I do not sleep much, because I have no patience. Time should just pass already so that we can finally be together, because we have been corresponding for almost a year, and it is already high time to reach the goal.

It is rainy here, so I will soon go to sleep.
